Overview: The Mi-Ki is a well balanced dog that both loves the indoors and outdoors. It is very affectionate towards humans and loves to be near its family. So long as it gets enough exercise it is easy to care for. It is both smart and energetic and thrives on human interaction. The Mi-Ki is trusting of strangers and is good around other pets.

Temperament: The Mi-Ki is a very intelligent and affectionate dog. It will aim to please its master and likes to spend time with its family. It is uncommon for this breed to just bark for no reason and it is fairly laid back, so to speak. Strangers aren't a problem around this dog as it loves to be with people whether it knows them or not. It is good around small pets and children and it has a gentle yet playful nature.

History: The story of the origin of the Mi-Ki varies between people. Some say it was first created in Asia and was first introduced in the United States around the 1980's. Ancestors of this dog include the Papillon, Maltese, and the Japanese Chin, however there is no solid evidence that this is correct or what percentages of each breed this dog is. Others say this dog originated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin under the supervision of one Micki Mackin around the 1980's. She mixed a Papillon, Japanese Chin, Maltese, and a small Shih Tzu and later a Papillon-Yorkshire Terrier mix was added into the breed. Mackin did not keep accurate records of this process, however, so it is unknown what percentages of each breed were used in the production of this dog.

Names: There is no other name the Mi-Ki is known by.

Physical Characteristics: The average adult Mi-Ki is around 10 to 11 inches in height, and should weigh about 10 lb. It is a very small breed with an apple domed head. The eyes of this breed are large and usually a dark color. However it can be lighter, but that is seen as undesirable. The ears on this dog are very mobile, able to move in many different directions. The ears can be erect, or dropped.

Care: A daily walk is recommended for this breed to stay in shape and to use its energy efficiently. Playing will also use up its energy, however it should still be taken out for a walk. While this dog can make an excellent house pet, it should have some access to an area that it can run and play outside. A small yard should suffice. Comb the coat of the Mi-Ki once a week with a wire comb to remove any dead hair that may have gotten tangled. The hair between the toes should also be trimmed on a regular basis to reduce chances of health problems.
